The Middle Years 3-6

At Southern Grove Primary School, we recognise that students are most motivated to learn when they are engaged in meaningful and relevant experiences, and when they have opportunities to make authentic choices about their learning. Through the continued implementation of the Walker Learning Approach, alongside explicit teaching of literacy and numeracy, we provide a consistent and cohesive framework that supports high levels of engagement and motivation.

Strong, positive relationships remain a key priority throughout the middle years. We understand that effective teacher–student relationships are fundamental to academic success, as well as to the development of social competence and emotional wellbeing.

Teaching and learning programs are aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum, ensuring that all required content and skills are delivered in ways that engage, empower and provide students with a sense of ownership over their learning. Students are encouraged to take responsibility, think critically and apply their knowledge in meaningful contexts.

At Southern Grove, we maintain a clear and unwavering focus on supporting every student to achieve their personal best across all areas of their development.
